Inflatable Seal & Clamp Retention Systems

Inflatable Seal and Clamp Retention Systems

For some standard profiles within our Pneuma-Seal and Q brands, retention systems are available. For each system (other than the clips), we offer standard lengths and, for an additional charge, can custom cut, slot, or drill. Contact us today to learn more about our capabilities. Detail drawings are available by inflatable profile within the Pneuma-Seal Standards section in the Retainer tab (sign-in required).
Retainer-Clips

Z-Clips for Type 1 Inflatable Profiles **NEW**

Z-Clips provide for the most flexibility, but require more work to install. Clips are typically installed on alternating sides of the seal at defined intervals (see below). Intervals can be adjusted depending on seal configuration. In many instances, for rectangular seals, Z-clips are used to hold the corners down while a Two-Piece retainer is used to hold the straight sections. The new z-clip designs are wider and thicker, which allow for more holding power. They are also made of stainless steel.

Two-Piece-Retainer

Two-Piece Aluminum Retainer for Type 1 Inflatable Profiles

The two-piece retention system may be used for the straight sections of an inflatable seal or clamp. One side is typically permanently welded or screwed in place; the other moveable to facilitate seal installation. When specifying this retention system, please note that you will need double the retainer footage to cover both sides of the seal. For example, a 4 foot section would require 8 feet of retainer - 4 feet for each side.

Slide-In Aluminum Retainer for Type 1 Inflatable Profiles

Slide-In retainers are typically used for straight inflatable clamps and actuators, because the part needs to be fed into the retainer from one end. They may also be used for u-shaped configurations.

Channel Dimensions for Type 10 and Other Profiles

The Type 10 and other profile designs rely on a properly designed channel to function correctly.  View Pneuma-Seal standard profiles for available channel dimensions.

Snap-In Aluminum Retainer for Type 3 Inflatable Profiles

Our Type 3 inflatable profiles have a unique dovetail design to facilitate retention, however, this dovetail can be difficult to machine. To make it easier, we offer a number of different Snap-In retainer sizes to fit several of our fabric reinforced inflatable profiles.

Snap-In Rubber Retainer for Type 3 Inflatable Profiles

Similar to the Aluminum Snap-In retainer, these rubber profiles are extruded to mate up with a particular Type 3 profile, then the whole assembly may be installed within a channel or set of "L" brackets.
